Platinum Refining

Platinum and Refining of Scrap

Because of platinum’s high value as bullion, trading in platinum to a company specializing in platinum refining and the refining of other metals, in exchange for money, is a sensible idea. Platinum wire, catalysts, sheets and the metal in a variety of other forms are all useful to smelters, who pay according to the amount of metal contained, its quality, and the success at which a particular metal can be refined from an alloy or other compound substance.

Platinum Refining Charges

Because platinum requires treatments during the refining process, platinum refining involves additional charges which are not needed for gold and silver refining. Because of platinum’s high value, these charges are not cause for concern, especially if you have a large lot of platinum scrap to trade, which will help to negate the cost of refining. Other precious metals commonly accepted by precious metal refiners include silver, palladium and gold.
